President

Prof Elizabeth Ogboli Nwasor is the President of the Nigerian Society of Anaesthetists (NSA), and President of the IASP Cancer Pain Special Interest Group. She is also Vice President II of the Society for the Study of Pain, Nigeria (SSPN). She is a member of the Education Committee of the World Federation of Societies of Anaesthesiologists (WFSA), and a former member of the Faculty Board of Anaesthesia of the West African College of Surgeons. She was the Mace Bearer of the West African College of Surgeons from 2011-2017. She is also the immediate Past President of Medical Women’s Association of Nigeria, Kaduna State Branch.
Dr. Elizabeth Onuwa Ogboli Nwasor MBBS, FWACS, MPH, graduated from the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria School of Medicine in 1990. She finished her anaesthesia Residency training and became a Specialist in Anaesthesia in 2001. She received her Masters in Public Health at the Ahmadu Bello University School of Medicine in 2010. She has participated in a number of educational projects and is a recipient of numerous scholarships, awards and grants.
She is a Professor of Obstetric Anaesthesia and pain Management in the department of Anaesthesia, Faculty of Clinical Sciences, College of Medical Sciences, Ahmadu Bello University Zaria and Chief Consultant, Head Obstetric Anaesthesia Unit, Department of Anaesthesia ABUTH Zaria, Kaduna State, Nigeria. She is also the Chair, Pain Management Team and Pain Relief In Labour Service, ABUTH Zaria, Kaduna State, Nigeria.
She is the Hospital Champion, Pain Free Hospital Initiative ABUTH Zaria. Professor Nwasor is also the Programme Lead for the WFSA Obstetric Anaesthesia Fellowship Programme in Nigeria.
Prof Ogboli Nwasor is an author and co-author/editor of 5 Medical books including a textbook titled ‘Introductory Anaesthesiology’ and has over 40 articles in international and national peer-reviewed medical journals. She has presented over sixty-five (65) papers at conferences, seminars and workshops as well as in official conference proceedings. Her main scientific interests and specialization are in the fields of Obstetric Anaesthesia, Pain Management and Palliative Care, Pain Education, Patient Safety and Clinical Quality. Vice President

Dr. Olubusola. T. Alagbe-Briggs had her undergraduate training at the University of Ilorin, Kwara State-Nigeria graduating with an M.B;B.S. degree and went through Anaesthesia Residency Training at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital, Idi-Araba, Lagos-Nigeria following which she qualified as a Fellow of the West African College of Surgeons in 2003.
A Senior Lecturer and Consultant Anaesthetist with the University of Port Harcourt /University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital, Rivers State, she is also a Board member of the Faculty of Anaesthesia.
She has been actively involved in Anaesthesia practice, training of Medical students and Residents in Anaesthesia for over two decades, has engaged in research activities having been the local co-ordinator for the ISOS, ASOS and NISOS studies on surgical outcomes and has scholarly publications in local and international peer reviewed journals. She has also attended and presented papers in various local and international conferences.
A member of the Nigerian Society of Anaesthetists and the Critical Care Society of Nigeria, her special interests are in Intensive Care, Cardiothoracic Anaesthesia, Medical Education and Ethics. She has been member of various committees on Training, Discipline and Improved services and also former Head of the Department of Anaesthesia both in the Teaching Hospital and University. She has also been member of Accreditation panel to various Institutions for Postgraduate Training in Anaesthesia and an Examiner with the Faculty of Anaesthesia, West African College of Surgeons.
General Secretary

Dr Okojie Nkechiyerim Quincy got her medical degree from the university of Benin teaching hospital in the year 2004. She then proceeded for her residency in the year 2007 and got her fellowship from the West African College of Surgeons in the year 2012 and also from the National Postgraduate medical college in 2014.
She had served in different committees and as Assistant Secretary in the Nigerian Society of Anaesthetists and also in other associations. She has several publications to her name. Hard work and dedication is her watchword.
She loves reading, making new cuisines, family get together and working out.

Dr Onyeoji Chinedu, MBBS, DA, FMCA and Consultant Anaesthetist at the Federal Medical Centre Asaba, Delta Nigeria.
Dr Onyeoji Onyeoji holds a Diploma in Anaesthesia from the prestigious University of Benin and a Fellow of the National Postgrasuate Medical College (FMCA).
He has interest in Safety in Anaesthesia and Critical Care, andPain Management.

Dr Saidu Yusuf Yakubu, MBBS, DA, FWACS is a Senior Lecturer and Consultant Anaesthetist at the Ahmadu Bello University (ABU)/Ahmadu Bello University Teaching Hospital (ABUTH) Zaria, Nigeria. He has been the Head of Anaesthesia in ABU/ABUTH Zaria since 2017.
Dr Yakubu is a Fellow of the West African College of Surgeons (FWACS), Member of the International Association for the Study of Pain (IASP) and Member of the Society for the Advancement of Blood Management (SABM).
He has interest in Safety in Anaesthesia and Critical Care, Patient Blood Management andPain Management.

Dr. Bisola O. I ONAJIN-OBEMBE
(MBBS, DA (WACS), FWACS, MBA, PhD).
Dr. Onajin-Obembe is a Consultant Anaesthesiologist, the Pioneer Paediatric Anaesthesiologist, and the Lead Anaesthesiologist for Ophthalmology, Maxillofacial, and Otolaryngology at the University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital (UPTH), Rivers State, Nigeria. She was the Head, Department of Anaesthesiology, at the UPTH from 2008 – 2010. Dr. Onajin-Obembe holds an interesting combination of degrees and fellowships namely, MBBS from the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Nigeria (1988); Fellowship in Anaesthesiology, West African College of Surgeons (FWACS, 2001); Fellowship of West African Health Organization for professional and linguistic exchange programme, Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) 2011; MBA (International Hospital Management), Frankfurt School of Finance and Management (2012); and PhD in Philosophy, International School of Management, Paris (2020). She believes that medicine and anaesthesiology, as well as leadership and management are power siblings that must be leveraged for an effective surgical and anaesthesia healthcare system. Her latest work is on human resources for anaesthesiology and her PhD thesis was on the “Analysis of Physician Anaesthesia Workforce Crisis in Nigeria: An Insider’s Action Research”. She is a pragmatic scientific scholar, an action researcher, and a well-known international speaker. Dr. Onajin-Obembe hosted the 6th All Africa Anaesthesia Congress in November 2017 at Abuja. She has consistently raised the profile of anaesthesia in Nigeria and Africa; and is now championing the Women Anaesthesia Specialists in Africa (WASA) project.
Dr Onajin-Obembe’s national and international activities include: President, Africa Regional Section of the World Federation of Societies of Anaesthesiologists (2013 – 2017); President, Nigerian Society of Anaesthetists (2014 – 2018), Council Member, World Federation of Societies of Anaesthesiologists (2016 – 2020), re-elected 2020 – 2024; Bellagio Commissioner, Lancet Commission on Global Surgery; Permanent Council Secretary & Director, Global Alliance for Surgical, Obstetric, Trauma and Anaesthesia Care (G4 Alliance) 2018 – 2020; Workforce Lead, for the Federal Ministry of Health’s policy on National Surgical, Obstetrics, Anaesthesia, and Nursing Plan (NSOANP) for Nigeria (2019); Board Member, Institute of Global Perioperative Care (IGPC), Maryland, USA; and Member of several WHO Technical Expert Working Groups.

DR. Aderonke Adesiyan obtained her MBBS at the University College Hospital(UCH) Ibadan in 2001. She had her residency training at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH) and Lagos University Teaching Hospital ( LUTH). she obtained a diploma in Anaesthesia (WACS) in 2009 and a Fellowship of the West African College of Surgeons ( FWACS) in 2014. She has a certification in leadership and Management in health from the University of Washington.
She currently works as a Consultant Anaesthetist at the Lagos State Teaching Hospital, Ikeja, Lagos. She is also a trainer for both Obstetric and Paediatric SAFE courses. Her areas of interest are Obstetric Anaesthesia, Regional Anaesthesia, Airway Management as well as Training and Management of Anaesthesia manpower. She is a member of the Society of Obstetric Anaesthetists of Nigeria, Critical Society of Nigeria, the Obstetric Anaesthetists’ Association of the United Kingdom (UK) and the pioneer President of the Society of Airway Management, Nigerian chapter. She believes in partnerships to enhance the provision of well trained Anaesthesia manpower for the growing population in Nigeria.
